Tottenham Seventh-day Adventist church is on the move. 30 years ago, pioneers acquired the then, Robins Mission at 253-255 West Green Road, Tottenham. The two-story building was then converted into a church hall and facilities for the Sugar Plum Day Nursery on the ground floor and the Sanctuary on the first floor. Credit is given to the evangelistic spirit of the pioneering families like the Rileys, Baxters, Rodneys, Hermitages, Grigleys, Rogers, Davis, Ken Taylor and Campbells, who had a vision for the work in north London.
The time has come for the church with a weekly membership close to 300, to begin its long-anticipated church swap and extension. The refurbishment costing £540,000, will include: relocation of the Sanctuary to the ground floor; a lift to the first floor and facilities for the less-abled; a rear extension which will increase seating capacity; improved washroom facilities; the congregation will be able to worship together on one level; the elderly will no longer have to negotiate the flight of winding stairs to the Sanctuary; and in the event of an emergency, members will be able to evacuate much more quickly and safely.
Sabbath 24 February was our last worship service in the current building. There will be a ground-breaking ceremony at 4:00 pm on Sunday 4 March. Contractors, Desire Construction Ltd, will commence construction on Monday 5 March . The completion date is set for 14 December 2018.
This project is much more than the rebuilding of the church; it’s about building faith and building relationships within the church and in the community.
The trustees of the West Green Road Baptist Church, 182 - 184 West Green Road, N15 5AF, have graciously consented to hire their facilities to us for the duration of the refurbishment.
